Meet the team at Mindful.

Hi! We are a small group private outpatient psychiatry & therapy practice. We are also just humans who know how hard it can sometimes be to be a human.

We are family people who honor connection.

We value vulnerability and authenticity.

We probably like a lot of the things you like.

We are parents trying our best to balance our lives.

And, we’re passionate about mental health.

We even went to school to learn how to best help you.

So while everyone here at Mindful is a licensed professional, we’re also just humans humaning right alongside you. Reaching out for help can be hard, and we’re so glad that you’re here.

The advice I’d give to somebody that’s silently struggling is: You don’t have to live that way. You don’t have to struggle in silence. You can be un-silent. You can live well with a mental health condition, as long as you open up to somebody about it, because it’s really important you share your experience with people so that you can get the help that you need. -Demi Lovato

Branden Heath received his Masters in Physician Assistant studies from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He has practiced both primary care and psychiatry throughout his career.

In 2018, Branden transferred to Yakima Neighborhood of Health Services and assumed care for the homeless population. He treated patients who had never sought out medical help who had long histories of mental illness and trauma. Shortly after moving, the challenge of treating mental health with limited providers and support became apparent. Branden provided working diagnosis in collaboration with other mental health professionals and became proficient in treating schizophrenia, mood disorders, substance abuse disorders, and others. Through his experiences navigating the complexity of healthcare systems and the difficulty of gaining access to competent, affordable mental health care, he co-founded Mindful.

Brené Brown says that “sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.” My clients are those who want to show up for themselves. They are often deeply-feeling, highly-sensitive people who have struggled to integrate all parts of themselves, but who are ready to experience the confidence that comes from owning painful chapters of their stories. My clients have often survived trauma and want to meet their past in a way that opens up freedom for their future. In other words, my clients are brave change-makers who haven’t yet fully realized that their sensitivity is perhaps their greatest superpower.

I am an EMDR-trained therapist who integrates Emotion Focused Therapy with here-and-now processing techniques. Our insight-oriented work is deeply validating, collaborative, and compassionate while gently confronting belief-systems and patterns that inhibit you living into your values. Therapy is hard work. I’ll get in the arena and work hard alongside you.

I offer free consultations to answer your questions, to listen to your goals, and to see if you and I could potentially have an impactful therapeutic relationship. I consider it one of the greatest privileges of my life to be privy to sacred moments of healing with my clients. Thank you, for showing up for yourself and trusting me to witness your process.

I work with individuals who want to make sense of their emotions, heal from trauma, and build authentic relationships with their loved ones. Many of my clients are brave change-makers, the first in their family to break multi-generational patterns. They wonder how to forgive, cast away anger, and move forward while at the same time standing up for themselves and their needs. They know that this work is so much bigger than themselves and that they are creating a new legacy for future generations.

I'm a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I use EMDR and Internal Family Systems Therapy to process emotions and memories. I also work with couples to communicate effectively, honor individuality, and heal from past wounds.

Let’s just call it how it is: being a teenager and young adult today is hard. The pressure and distractions can make it tough to see beyond the grip of anxiety and depression. It may feel like a far-off fantasy to live a life where your values drive your decisions, your motivation leads you to your goals, and your self-compassion is your rock on the tough days.

When we work together, it's like hanging out in a safe space where we can unpack those feelings and address the challenges head-on. We'll discover your strengths and pack your toolkit with strategies to bounce back stronger. We'll also figure out what balance, health, and wholeness look like to you, and help you to live in it. There might be days that you don’t want to face the struggle or put in the work, but I promise you it is worth it - you are worth it.

Even if I don't always get the latest slang, I'm here to have your back and teach you to be your own biggest supporter. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help guide our conversations, to focus on your strengths and values and challenge the thoughts and behaviors that aren’t in alignment. After eight years working with high school and middle school students, I've learned that what truly matters is being heard and seen.
